Amit chairs crucial meet to initiate zero-emission hydrogen mobility project in Leh

 In a groundbreaking move towards sustainable transportation, Administrative Secretary of the Transport Department, UT Ladakh, Amit Sharma, today chaired a significant meeting to advance a zero-emission hydrogen mobility project in Leh.
Held at the Conference Hall, Secretariat, Leh, the meeting focused on operationalizing five hydrogen fuel cell buses using water conversion into fuel technology, a pioneering initiative in the nation.
Chaired by Amit Sharma, the meeting saw a comprehensive presentation by the NTPC team, shedding light on hydrogen-based projects in Ladakh and outlining timelines for deploying hydrogen fuel cell buses.
The proposal, discussed in detail, highlighted the collaborative efforts between the UT Ladakh Transport Department and NTPC.
Key points of discussion included the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), optimal deployment routes for the buses, oxygen bottling for tourists, solar plant integration, and tariff considerations.
Sharma emphasized the initiative’s significance in paving the way for sustainable transportation solutions and positioning Leh as a national trendsetter in eco-friendly mobility.
Highlighting the environmental benefits, Sharma noted that the emission of these hydrogen cell-fuelled buses would be water vapour, aligning perfectly with the Prime Minister’s vision of making Ladakh the first fully Carbon Neutral UT of Bharat.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on key action points, reaffirming NTPC and the Transport Department’s commitment to the successful implementation of the zero-emission hydrogen mobility project in Leh.
Attended by Skeikh Nazir, Regional Transport Officer, Ladakh, and other officials, the meeting also included virtual participation from Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Leh, Under Secretary to the Administrative Secretary, Traffic Manager, SIDCO, and representatives from NTPC.
