According to media reports, the Union Home Minister can also discuss other issues with the party leaders and the leaders of the parties involved in the grand alliance government. Shah has reached Mumbai at a time when there is speculation about change of leadership in the state. It is being said that if any adverse decision comes from the Assembly Speaker then BJP can implement Plan-B. Assembly elections are to be held after the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra. In such a situation, BJP wants to move forward with a strict strategy.

In the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP had fought in alliance with Shiv Sena in the state and in a spectacular performance, the BJP-led NDA had won 41 out of 48 seats. UPA could get four seats. One seat was won by AIMIM and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi. One seat went to an independent. Navneet Rana, who won from Amravati, later gave her support to NDA. After this the total number of NDA MPs reached 42. There is pressure on BJP to repeat the same performance in the state.
