AMRITSAR: Phulkari WOA organizes graduation ceremony
Amritsar: Phulkari WOA organized the graduation ceremony of 35 students of its Digital Literacy Program at the Center of Advanced Computer and Management Studies (CACMS).
The guests of honor were Anjali Singh Assistant Commissioner (GST) Tarn Taran, Ashish Luthra, Director Luthra Bottles Pvt. Ltd. Ltd. and the patron of the program was Anu Bedi, Principal Senior Secondary School, Karampura.
The digital literacy program was launched in March 2023 to provide children from lower economic classes with the necessary computer skills to make them industry-ready individuals. Dr. Sugandh Khanna, Founder of CACMS, designs the curriculum and supervises the training. Phulkari member and program in-charge, Rajni Bajaj, coordinates with the students and takes care of the logistics. Under this, about 90 students have been trained so far.
“Children are taught the basics of computers under Level 1, older children graduate to Level 2, which teaches more specific skills like accounting, tally for designing and Level 3 prepares them for placements. Level 3 also provides holistic preparation for job interviews. “This program is one of the verticals of the philanthropic Phulkari learning programme, which was launched in 2018 to help children from lower economic classes move towards a brighter future through education,” shared Aarti Khanna, President of Phulkari. .
Its second work area is Functional English, which trains middle and secondary school children in spoken English and English communication to improve their future employment prospects.
