Anak Krakatoa volcano erupts, know updates

Jakarta: The Anak Krakatau volcano, located in the waters of the Sunda Strait in Indonesia, erupted on Tuesday, spewing an ash cloud about 1 km high. An officer gave this information.
Volcano observation post officer Angi Nurio Saputro said the eruption occurred at 6.29 a.m. for 130 seconds, when the wind was blowing north, Xinhua news agency reported.

“The ash column was seen to be brown to black in color with dense intensity towards the north,” he said in a statement.
Since first emerging in June 1927, Anak Krakatoa’s volcanic activity has been increasing, causing its body to grow larger and taller, rising to 157 meters above sea level. Its activity has increased significantly since April last year, taking its danger level to the third highest level.

In 2018, Anak Krakatoa erupted and caused a tsunami that killed more than 400 people and left thousands homeless.
