According to a latest report of ‘Hindustan Times’, Dev Anand’s iconic bungalow located in the posh area of Juhu in Mumbai has been sold. This was the house where Dev Anand spent almost 40 years of his life with his wife and children.
The bungalow has been sold to a real estate company. The deal is done and only minor paperwork remains. It is being told that due to its prime location, the bungalow has been sold at a huge price of Rs 350 to 400 crores. After the demolition of the bungalow, a new 22-storey tower will be built in its place. A source close to Dev Anand’s family has also explained the reason behind selling such a huge property.
This decision was taken deliberately by Dev Anand’s wife and his children, as there was no one to take care and maintain it. Some of Dev Anand’s other properties, including one of his studios, have already been sold and the money received from all these sales has been equally distributed between Dev Anand’s wife Kalpana Karthik and children Sunil and Devina. . Sunil lives in America, while Devina lives in Ooty with her mother.
There is no one to take care of the property in Mumbai and hence they have decided to sell the bungalow. Let us tell you that Dev Anand married Kalpana Karthik in the year 1954. Dev Anand died in 2011 at the age of 88. Dev Anand had given memorable performances in many films including ‘Guide’, ‘Johnny Mera Naam’, ‘Jewel Thief’, ‘Gambler’ and ‘Heera Panna’.
