Andhra Pradesh: Arrival of KVK Golden Jubilee Torch
Rajamahendravaram: The year 2024 marks the golden jubilee year for Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs). 731 KVKs across India are participating in the golden jubilee Mahotsav Jyoti Yatra, starting with KVK of Puducherry, established in 1974.
The golden jubilee Mahotsav torch procession programme of KVKs was held at the Kalavacharla KVK campus on Tuesday.
Dr Maganti Seshu Madhav, Director, ICAR-CTRI received the torch from KVK of Kondempudy, Visakhapatnam.
KVK Head Dr VSGR Naidu, scientists, farmers and NGOs participated in the programme. Awareness programme was organised on KVK services, training programmes organised for the benefit of farmers, skill training done for self-employment and women empowerment.
KVK chief Naidu said the KVK, established in 1983 under the aegis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) CTRI, has been serving farmers for over four decades and has achieved national recognition in various fields. He handed over the torch to KVK head Dr Lalitha Kameswari of Dr YSR Horticultural University, Pandirrimamidi. KVK officials JVR Sathyavani, Raghunandan, Sanjay Hegde and others were present.
