Andhra tribal youth assaulted, urinated on his face
Amaravati (IANS). The shameful act of a group of youths urinating on the face of a tribal youth in Andhra Pradesh after assaulting him has come to the fore.
A shocking video of the incident that took place in Ongole town of Prakasam district about a month ago came to the fore on Wednesday. The incident was a result of rivalry between the accused and the victim. Both the accused and the victim have criminal background.
The Ongole incident, just after a man urinated on a tribal laborer in Madhya Pradesh, has sparked outrage and tribal groups have demanded action.
About a month ago, a group of nine youths attacked and assaulted a person named Naveen. In the video circulating on social media, Naveen is lying in a pool of blood, pleading with the assailants to let him go. Some of the accused urinated on Naveen’s face and asked him to drink.
Ongole police have detained some of the accused. The main accused is absconding.
The main accused in the case is Ramananjeyulu alias Anji, who is said to be Naveen’s childhood friend. Both are involved in more than 50 cases of theft. Naveen was arrested by the police and sent to jail in some cases, while Anji somehow managed to escape from the police trap. Recently there was a difference of opinion between them.
About a month back, Anji called Naveen behind KIMS Medical College. When Naveen reached there, Anji was present along with eight others. A heated argument ensued between them. Naveen was mercilessly thrashed by the inebriated assailants. When he fell to the ground covered in blood, the three criminals urinated on his face. He captured his act on a mobile phone. He can be heard asking the victim to drink urine in the video.
On the victim’s complaint, the police registered a case under the Scheduled Castes Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, but no arrests were made. After one of the accused uploaded the video on social media and it sparked outrage, the police swung into action and the arrests were made.
