Angul Derzang reservoir to become a tourist hub

Angul: Officials said the Angul Forest Division plans to develop the Derjung Reservoir near the city into a tourism hub with funding from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF). Located about 6 kilometers from Angul city, the ₹5 crore project will include facilities like boating, open-air restaurants, and tourist cottages.
Designed in the shape of a lotus and visible from afar, the park will have two sections—one for general recreation and the other as a herbal garden with medicinal plants. An ultra-modern park is also being developed for visitors of all ages. A medicinal garden with endangered plant species will be developed nearby. Tourist accommodation is also planned. A three-story building with a reception and ticket counter on the ground floor, an open restaurant with reservoir views on the second floor, and three suites on the third floor are part of this new project. Bookings will be available both online and offline.
Boating will be a major attraction, with 26 different types of boats, including jet skis, speed boats, pedal boats, and aqua bikes. Local youth will be trained in boating. Officials said about 40 young people have been identified, of whom 10 will be selected in the first phase.
