Answer sheet evaluation: Teachers protest new rules

Tamil Nadu: Teachers have objected to a new rule that requires camp officials to check and sign the answer sheets of students who score full marks in the Plus Two and Tenth grade public exams.
In Tamil Nadu, the state-syllabus Plus Two and Tenth grade public exams have been completed, and the evaluation of answer sheets is currently underway. More than 80,000 teachers are involved in this work. Consequently, the Election Department has mandated that camp officials must check and sign the answer sheets of students who score full marks (centum) during the evaluation process. Teachers complain that this new rule, introduced this year, is delaying answer sheet corrections.
Teachers have this to say: “Assistant Examiners
who are teachers will be involved in the answer sheet evaluation camp correction work. The invigilator must verify that the answers have been marked correctly. In this regard, the Principal Examiner will recheck and sign the answer sheets of students who have scored full marks. Consequently, it takes 30 to 45 minutes each time to take the answer sheets of students who have scored full marks to the camp officer and obtain their approval. This delays the evaluation of the entire answer sheet given to teachers for evaluation in a single day.
Therefore, he suggested that the Election Department should follow the old system in this regard.
