Apple iPhone 15 Pro receives Vision Pro spatial video capture feature with new iOS 17.2 update
Apple iPhone 15 Pro has now got the ability to record spatial videos with the latest beta version of iOS 17- iOS 17.2 beta. With the new feature, iPhone 15 Pro users can now view the upcoming Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The feature can be activated by toggling the “Spatial Video for Apple Vision Pro” option in the Settings app.
According to the company, iPhone 15 Pro users, who have installed the beta version of iOS 17.2, will see a Spatial Video for Apple Vision Pro option in the settings app. This 3D video effect will be utilized by using the top two cameras of the iPhone. But it will only come into effect if the iPhone is in a horizontal position.
According to Apple, spatial videos are captured in 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. However, the spatial videos will occupy a huge amount of storage as each minute of footage requires approximately 130MB of storage.
Announcing the feature, Apple said that users can record spatial video with remarkable depth for viewing in the Photos app on Apple Vision Pro. For best results, keep the iPhone in landscape orientation and stable while recording. Video is recorded at 30 fps at 1080p. A minute of spatial video is approximately 130 MB.
With the newly introduced spatial video feature on iOS 17.2 beta 2 for iPhone 15 Pro, users activating the toggle will notice a fresh “Spatial” option within the Camera app’s “Video” interface.
Anticipating the release of Vision Pro in “early 2024,” users will have the ability to experience these spatial videos through the AR/VR headset. Moreover, once the Vision Pro headset becomes available next year, users can seamlessly capture their own spatial videos using the device.
“Users will be able to capture precious moments in three dimensions and relive those memories with incredible depth on Apple Vision Pro,” says Apple. “Every spatial photo and video transports users back to a moment in time, like a celebration with friends or a special family gathering.”
