Apple working on a new MacBook Ultra with a touchscreen

Technology: Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a high-end MacBook model with a touchscreen display, possibly called the “MacBook Ultra.” This new model is expected to be priced higher than the current MacBook Pro lineup.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple may introduce an entirely new MacBook line instead of simply updating the MacBook Pro. Previous reports suggested redesigned MacBook Pro models with the M6 series, a slimmer chassis, and a touchscreen OLED display. However, new rumors suggest a different approach.
Apple has traditionally avoided adding touchscreens to MacBooks, maintaining the iPad as its primary touch-based platform. Therefore, a touchscreen MacBook could mark a major change in the Mac lineup. If reports are accurate, MacBook users can expect premium laptops featuring OLED touchscreens, a long-awaited upgrade.
Gurman also said that the new high-end MacBook could retain the traditional MacBook Pro name but will be at the top of Apple’s lineup, featuring advanced hardware and display technology. This MacBook Ultra is expected to be positioned above the MacBook Pro models as Apple expands its premium offerings.
Apple is also entering the affordable segment with the MacBook Neo, so an expensive premium model appears to be part of its larger strategy. The high-end MacBook is expected to launch by late 2026, marking a new era for Apple’s Mac lineup.
