Applications should be taken only online in revenue cases: High Court
Bilaspur. The Division Bench of Chhattisgarh High Court has issued an important order regarding corruption in disposal and diversion of revenue cases. The bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Kumar Sinha and Justice Rajni Dubey has made it clear that now only online applications should be taken in revenue cases. In fact, the Law and Legislative Department had issued a circular in this regard in 2022, in which instructions were given to take online applications, which was not being followed.
During the last hearing of this case, the High Court had shown seriousness on the corruption in Bilaspur tehsil and other works including diversion and not doing the work without paying. The Division Bench, showing strictness, had asked the Bilaspur Collector to appear and answer with an affidavit. Information was also sought as to how many cases of land and diversion are registered and how many are pending.
During this time, the Division Bench had also issued instructions to the officers of the Revenue Department and sought information about the cases pending in the tehsil offices across the state. After which the High Court had expressed strong displeasure after seeing the pendency. Besides, instructions were also given to the state government to take initiative in this regard.
