Arms and explosives smuggling network busted, NIA action

New Delhi. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today (Thursday) has busted a network of cross-border smuggling of arms, ammunition and explosives. Arrested a main accused in the case.

The accused has been identified as Lalangaihouma, a resident of Mamit area of Mizoram. He was nabbed from Aizawl, Mizoram following input regarding operation of a large-scale illegal arms and ammunition supply network in some north eastern states of India.

The NIA also said that he, along with others, was engaged in smuggling of arms, ammunition and explosive materials not only into the north-eastern states but also across the border. He was working closely with various operatives, including insurgent groups based across the international border.
