Army must be deployed for rescue operation; Arjun’s family with letter for Prime Minister
KOZHIKODE: The family of Arjun, who went missing along with a lorry in the landslide in Karnataka, has written to the Prime Minister asking him to intervene in the matter. Arjun’s wife Krishnapriya has sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through email requesting that the army should be deployed for the rescue operation. The family sought the Prime Minister’s intervention five days after Arjun went missing.
A search is being conducted using state-of-the-art radar to locate Arjun. However, the mission team said that no radar signals were received to confirm that it belonged to the lorry. A team from Surathkal NIT is conducting the radar inspection.Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy had visited the accident site. He told the media that the rescue operation is proceeding well. The Union Minister’s response was that there is no need to deploy the army at the moment and the NDRF team is doing its job properly.Ten people including Arjun were involved in the accident. Seven bodies were found in the river. Arjun went on the 8th of this month with the lorry of Manaf, a resident of Mukkam, to bring wood from Karnataka. His last call home was on the 16th.. The information came to be known at Arjun’s house when the Bharat Benz Company informed the lorry owner about the presence of GPS at the disaster site.
