Army soldier martyred due to IED blast
Ranchi : A CRPF jawan has been martyred in an IED blast by Maoist Naxalites in Chaibasa, Jharkhand on Friday, while an officer and another jawan were seriously injured. Both the injured have been airlifted to Ranchi for better treatment. The name of the martyred soldier has been stated as Santosh Oraon. He was a soldier of CRPF 94 battalion. The injured include Ejeto Tine and constable Jayanta Nath of the 60th battalion of CRPF. Both are residents of North East.
It was told that the CRPF team had gone on a search operation against Naxalites in Hathiburu forest area of Chaibasa. Meanwhile, an IED planted underground by Naxalites exploded. Three people from the battalion were hit by it. Constable Santosh Oraon, who was seriously injured, died while being brought for treatment. Chaibasa SP Ashutosh Shekhar has said that the IED blast was carried out in the afternoon to target the security forces who were out on Naxal operation. In Chaibasa, Naxalites have targeted security forces through IED blasts at least half a dozen times since last August. During this period, four officers and soldiers of police and security forces have been martyred.
On September 28, one soldier was killed, while two others were injured in an explosion near the hill near Sarjamburu and Tumbahaka villages in the highly Naxal-affected Tonto police station area of the district. Similarly, on August 14, Naxalites had ambushed the security forces in Tonto police station area, in which a sub-inspector and a Jaguar Force soldier were martyred. Similarly, on September 13, Naxalites had blown up a tractor carrying CRPF material by detonating an IED in the Kolhan forest, in which the driver of the tractor was killed, while the driver was seriously injured.
