Arrested for stealing iron from the factory, scrap also caught
Durg: The police have succeeded in catching a gang that was stealing iron from inside the factory and selling it at the scrapyard. Jamul police has arrested 4 accused including a minor. A large quantity of stolen iron has been seized from them. The police have also seized the stolen iron from Pandey Kabadi’s place and arrested him. Jamul police station in-charge Yakub Memon said that on the instructions of Durg Superintendent of Police, patrolling has been increased to curb incidents of theft. Late night of 29-30 October, police station in-charge Jamul Yakub Memon, Sauni Kuleshwar Chandrakar, Hamrah staff constable Sanjay Manhare, constable Farooq Khan, constable G. Samuel and constable Amit Kumar were out on patrol. During this time, he saw some people near the Utkal Engineering Factory located in Rajiv Nagar, behind the Electricity Office. When the police tried to stop them, they started running away. On this the police surrounded them and arrested them. On enquiry, they identified themselves as Bali alias Lokesh Yadav (28 years), Virendra Bhuarya (21 years), both residents of Gautam Nagar, near Kaushalya Grocery Stores, Khursipar, and Ravi Vishwakarma (21 years), resident of Gautam Nagar Sanyasi Mohalla, Khursipar. A minor boy was also included with him. He admitted to carrying out the Choki incident. All the accused have been sent to judicial custody.
During strict interrogation, the accused told that they used to steal scrap from Utkal Engineering Factory. After this, the scrap dealers used to sell it in Suresh Pandey’s shop located near ITI Ground. He also talked about keeping some items hidden in the drain in front of the factory. Police seized 9 pieces of iron center pivot bottom, 8 iron bearing block segments and 1 iron tube guide from the drain and warehouse of Suresh Singh Pandey scrap. A motorcycle CG 07 CL 1049 has also been seized from the accused. The value of the goods seized by the police is said to be more than Rs 5 lakh.
