Arunachal: DA warns against travelling on Akajan-Bame Road at night

LIKABALI: The Lower Siang district administration has cautioned against night travel on the Akajan-Bame road and advised commuters to avoid it during adverse weather conditions.
The advisory was issued by ADC Mokar Riba during a monsoon preparedness meeting here on Monday, highlighting the vulnerability of the road stretch.
During the meeting, participants, including administrative officers, HoDs of both central and state government establishments, representatives from the Indian Army, district police, ITBP, BRTF/BRO discussed strategies to effectively tackle disaster or any disaster-like situation that may arise during the monsoon season.
A resolution was adopted to establish a robust framework for monsoon preparedness and disaster response across the district.
Riba, who chaired the meeting, said that disaster management is a collective responsibility and can be effectively handled only through coordinated efforts among all stakeholders.
SP Bomken Basar said that preparedness efforts should not be confined to the district headquarters alone, and that all administrative circles must remain equally alert and equipped to respond promptly to any emergency during the monsoon. He stressed the need for the disaster control room to remain operational round-the-clock.
Earlier, District Disaster Management Officer Tarik Nyitan appealed to all departments and agencies to furnish details of the preventive and preparedness measures being undertaken to combat disasters during the monsoon season.
The participants shared vital information regarding the status of monsoon preparedness within their respective departments and areas of responsibility.
