Arunachal: World Bicycle Day celebrated

PASIGHAT: The East Siang Cycling Association (ESCA) in association with Arunachal Cycling Association, and ASMITA, an initiative under the central government’s Khelo India programme, celebrated World Bicycle Day here on Wednesday.
Eleven cyclists participated in the race who pedaled from Pasighat entry gate to Indoor Stadium, covering around 6 km, to promote sustainable transport and fitness.
Pasighat East Mandal BJP president Oyin Gao, who flagged off the race, emphasized the need for physical exercise through cycling and urged the youth to adopt the habit of regular cycling for fitness.
ESCA president Thomas Ering and general secretary Kaling Taki urged youth to include cycling and other sports in their daily routine for sound physical and mental health.
Vikash Chetri, a 13-year-old cyclist from Roing in Lower Dibang Valley, also joined the event by crossing about 100 km to Pasighat.
