Asia Cup: Najam Sethi again attacked India
New Delhi (IANS). Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi once again targeted the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for its decision not to shift the India-Pakistan Super-4 match despite bad weather.
As per the Asia Cup Super 4 venues confirmed on Wednesday, five of the six matches are scheduled to be held in Colombo. According to weather update, there will be rain in Colombo till 20th September.
“BCCI/ACC informed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that they have decided to shift the next India-Pak match from Colombo to Hambantota due to forecast of rain. However, a Within hours they changed their mind and announced Colombo as the venue. What is happening? Is India scared of playing and losing to Pakistan?”
Recently the much-anticipated India-Pakistan encounter at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium was called off due to incessant rain on Saturday.
Sethi also shared pictures showing the contrasting weather conditions in the two cities, stating that Colombo has an 89% chance of rain on Sunday while Hambantota has only a 12% chance.
Earlier, the former PCB chief accused the BCCI and the ACC of holding the Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka instead of UAE despite knowing the rainy season in Sri Lanka.
After BCCI decided not to travel to Pakistan for the tournament, Sethi suggested that BCCI and ACC should schedule the tournament in UAE.
However, Jay Shah rubbished Sethi’s claims and cited ‘players’ health’ as the primary reason for not scheduling the Asia Cup in the UAE.
