Assam: Congress high command rejects Bhupen Bora’s resignation, decision taken in Delhi meeting

Guwahati: The Indian National Congress leadership has rejected the resignation of senior Assam leader Bhupen Bora after detailed discussions in New Delhi. Party leaders said that internal differences have been resolved through dialogue.
Assam Congress in-charge Bhanwar Jitendra Singh confirmed this.
Speaking to the media, Singh said that he was grateful to Bora for withdrawing his resignation and remaining committed to the party.
He said, “I thank Bhupen Bora for withdrawing his resignation. He is an important member of the Congress family.”
According to Singh, Bora had sent his resignation to the party’s national president amid alleged differences within the state unit. However, the party high command did not accept the resignation.
Singh said, “Sometimes there are differences within the Congress family. The Congress president did not accept his resignation. The party leadership, including Rahul Gandhi, had a long discussion with him. We have resolved it through dialogue.”
He also emphasized Bora’s long association with the party, saying he has been with the Congress for the past 30 years. The statement reflected the leadership’s efforts to maintain unity within the Assam unit ahead of the crucial political developments surrounding the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
This development had led to speculation about internal rifts within the Assam Congress. However, this announcement signals the central leadership’s efforts to demonstrate stability and unity.
Party sources said the discussion focused on organizational matters and future strategy in Assam.
Now that the resignation issue has been resolved, it is expected that the Congress leadership will focus on strengthening its base in the state.
This development occurred as the Congress was preparing for the upcoming assembly elections in Assam.
