Assam News: Rape of minor, accused tried to escape from custody

Assam News: The accused of raping a minor girl tried to escape from police custody. During this, the accused was injured in police firing. A total of five people have been arrested for raping a minor.An accused in the recent rape incident of a minor in Assam tried to escape from police custody. On Saturday, five people lured the girl to a secluded place on some pretext in the Dhunsuri tea garden of Majbat police station. She was raped there, the girl’s family lodged a complaint with the police the next day. After this, the police started searching for the accused.

The police have since arrested five accused from different places in Udalguri and Darang districts. The police officer said that the arrest was made on June 22.The accused of raping a minor girl trying to escape from custody in Udalguri district of Assam was injured in police firing. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that on Tuesday night an accused tried to escape from custody and was injured in the firing by the police to prevent him from escaping. The Chief Minister directed Director General of Police GP Singh to investigate the matter under the supervision of a senior officer.
