ATS got big success, seized heroin worth Rs 350 crores

Gujarat. Under the joint operation of Gujarat ATS, Indian Navy, NCB (Central Agency), a huge consignment of 3100 kg of drugs was seized in the Indian border in the Arabian Sea on Tuesday. Its price is estimated to be more than Rs 2 thousand crores. The biggest cache of drugs seized is 2950 kg of hashish, apart from which drugs like methamphetamine and morphine are included, which are banned in India. According to agencies, this is the biggest ever recovery of narcotics in the Indian subcontinent.

The team has also arrested 5 foreign peddlers involved in drug peddling. The peddlers are suspected to be Iranian or Pakistani citizens. A few days ago, Gir Somnath police had seized heroin and other drugs worth Rs 350 crore that had washed up on the ghat of Veraval. Since then Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Gujarat ATS was running operations to catch the peddlers. According to information received by the Indian Navy, the suspects were carrying hashish and other narcotics on the ship. On the basis of this information, the operation was carried out, after being in the sea for two days, the Navy stopped the suspicious boat which had entered the Indian territorial waters and upon investigation, drugs worth crores were found in the boat.

The captured boat, drugs and 5 suspected paddlers were taken to Porbandar, Gujarat. Home Minister Amit Shah has congratulated the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, NCB and Gujarat ATS for seizing a huge consignment of drugs. Congratulating, Amit Shah wrote: This is a big success in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s drug-free India campaign. This has been possible due to the joint operation of NCB, Navy and Gujarat Police. This success is proof of the government’s unwavering commitment to make our country drug-free.

The five people arrested from the boat are suspected to be Iranian or Pakistani nationals. A senior NCB official said that no nationality document has been recovered from him. Upon investigation of the ship, nothing suspicious was found in the ship. Indian security agencies are collecting more information about drugs and them from the arrested accused. Where and to whom were the drugs to be sent and who was the receiver of the drugs as well as how many other people are connected with these drugs. Even before this, Indian Navy has recovered drugs worth crores of rupees in Indian maritime border in several operations. Drug mafias try to enter drugs into India through sea route, but due to the vigilance of Indian security agencies, their attempts fail. .
