Attempt to murder former minister’s aide, 6 including policeman arrested
Hassan: Former Karnataka minister H.D. Six people, including a senior police officer, have been arrested for alleged attempt to murder a close aide of Revanna. Police gave this information on Monday. The victim Ashwath is a first class contractor and industrialist, son of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s son and was working closely with JD(S) leader Revanna. According to the police, the arrested people have been identified as R. Satish (38), C. Murugan (37), R. Madhusudan (38), B.S. Tejashwi (37) and Arvind (40).
Another arrested accused J. Ashok is attached to the Internal Security Division (ISD) in Kolar district. Investigation revealed that the accused wanted to extort huge amount of money by kidnapping the victim. Hassan SP Mohammad Sujita said that the role of police inspector Ashok has come to light during the investigation. Upon continued questioning, he revealed the role of other gang members. SP Sujitha said that two other accused will also be arrested soon. After meeting Revanna, on October 10, the victim was returning in his vehicle towards Channarayapatna at around 8 pm.
When Ashwath reached near Suranahalli village of Holenarasipura taluk, the accused gang attacked him, but he managed to escape. Investigation revealed that the gang was involved in kidnapping rich people and later charging huge sums of money for their release. The investigation into the gang’s involvement in other cases is ongoing. Police have seized three luxury cars and eight mobile phones in the case.
