Australia: Two killed as SUV falls into drain on NSW-Queensland border
Sydney: Two people were killed and one seriously injured when an SUV fell into a drain near the border of Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland states early Sunday, local police said.
Emergency services were called to the Carval Creek Bridge, south of Mungindi, at 1:15am local time on Sunday after an SUV veered off an embankment and into a drain, trapping three people inside, NSW Police said in a report, reports news agency Xinhua.
A 23-year-old woman was pulled out of the vehicle and rushed to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The bodies of two other people, a man and a woman, were recovered from the submerged vehicle in the afternoon. They were both aged in their 20s but have not yet been formally identified.
