Avoid electrical accidents, take necessary precautions
Raipur: There are reports of loss of lives and serious injuries to outsiders in electrical accidents in the city and rural areas, which is extremely painful and causes irreparable loss to the concerned family and society. Manoj Khare, MD of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company, has advised the public to be careful while dealing with electricity and not to tamper. People have been made alert and aware.
The power company has said that electricity connections are provided to consumers for their needs, its use for hunting wild animals or applying current to wire fencing for crop protection in fields is illegal and dangerous. Due to this the common people have to suffer loss of life and property. Electrical switches or plugs should always be used wearing rubber slippers. Safe distance should be maintained from transformers and power lines. Always use power from a valid power connection. Consumers are being made aware at the field level to prevent electrical accidents. An appeal has been made to the public that due to lack of information and carelessness, electrical accidents occur, resulting in loss of life and property, the compensation of which is not possible in a lifetime. Therefore, be cautious about electrical work and its use. Especially during irrigation of agricultural pumps, the risk of electric shock increases due to wetting of the ground.
While sharing important information from the safety point of view for the consumers, it was told that construction work should not be done under power lines. Do not attempt unauthorized repair work in case of malfunction in electrical lines, equipment/transformers etc. In such a situation, inform the concerned employee/officer of the department. Maintain a safe distance from power lines. If any electrical wire has broken and fallen on the ground, stay away from it and instruct other people to stay away as well. Immediately inform this to the concerned lineman or the concerned electricity office. If an electric wire is found broken and fallen in rivers, streams, ponds etc., do not go into the water and maintain sufficient distance. Do not make unauthorized use of electricity by hooking it up to run equipment and pumps etc., this comes under the category of dangerous as well as illegal work. Use quality electrical appliances in homes/farms etc. Do not tie wires etc. to electric poles for drying clothes. Keep the clothes dryer wire at a sufficient distance from electrical appliances/lines. Do not use broken service lines. Do not use cut wires for temporary connections, and keep the line at a sufficient height from the ground using poles of sufficient length. Do not allow children to play around electrical equipment/lines.
