Babar one of the best batsmen in the world: Virat Kohli
New Delhi (IANS). Indian star batsman Virat Kohli has described Babar Azam as one of the best batsmen in the world across all formats.
In a conversation with Star Sports, Virat Kohli recalled his first meeting with Babar Azam and also praised his batting.
“My first conversation with Babar was after the game in Manchester during the 2019 ODI World Cup,” Kohli said, referring to an interview.
“I have known Imad Wasim since the Under-19 World Cup and he said that Babar wanted to talk.”
Kohli said, “We sat and talked about the game. I saw a lot of respect and respect from him for me from day one. It hasn’t changed till now.”
There is no doubt that he is the top batsman in the world across formats. “He is a consistent performer and I have always loved watching him play,” Kohli said.
Babar is currently the top-ranked player in the Men’s ODI batting rankings with 886 rating points. At the same time, Kohli is at the ninth position with 705 rating points.
The Pakistan batsman is also in the top five in the T20 and Test rankings, confirming his status as an all-format superstar. He is the only player in the ranking table to be ranked in the top five across all formats.
India and Pakistan will face off in Kandy on September 2 during the group stage of the Asia Cup. Based on their performance in the first round, if they advance, they can compete in the Super 4 stage as well.
Besides, the two arch-rivals will also clash in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in Ahmedabad on October 14.
