Babushaan starer Daman wins 70th National Film Awards for best Odia film
Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The Babushaan starer movie Daman has won the 70th National Film Awards for best Odia film on Friday, said reports.
The name of the movie Daman is an abbreviation for Durgama Anchalare Malaria Nirakarana that was undertaken by the Odisha Government. The movie was written and directed by Vishal Mourya and Debi Prasad Lenka and produced by Deependra Samal.
The film describes a doctor’s journey against superstition on one hand and his struggles in the new environment on the other. The doctor takes it upon him to eradicate malaria and to create awareness among the people about the disease.
This movie chronicles the success of the State Government healthcare scheme in the malaria-endemic district of Malkangiri. This movie carries a positive message on the efforts and contribution of the Government and the public in implementing health schemes in hard to reach areas.
According to reports, in the 70th National Film Awards the best actor in a leading role was awarded to Risabh Shetty for Kantara.
Best actress in a leading role was given to Nithya Menen for ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ and Manasi Parekh for ‘Kutch Express’. ‘Gulmohar’ starring Sharmila Tagore and Manoj Bajpayee won Best Hindi Film award.
