Baby elephant found dead in Rengali reservoir

Deogarh: In an unfortunate incident, a baby elephant was found dead in Rengali reservoir in Odisha’s Deogarh district today. The carcass of the baby elephant, believed to be around 1-2 years old, was found near Kantimal village under the Riyamala forest range.

Although it is not yet known the circumstances under which the pachyderm’s body was found in the reservoir, it is suspected that the animal died after accidentally falling into it when it came to drink water.

Some locals spotted the elephant carcass and informed forest officials about it, sources said, adding that efforts are on to recover the carcass from the Rengali reservoir.

The death of the baby elephant has saddened animal lovers.
