balloon gas cylinder explodes
Mehsana. A major accident took place in Brahmanwada village of Mehsana district in Gujarat on Saturday afternoon. Hundreds of gas balloons burst during the Pran Pratistha Mahotsav program of Lord Ganapati here. 30 people got injured due to this. Many children are also included among the injured. The injured have been admitted to different hospitals in Brahmanwada and Unjha.
A large number of devotees from nearby villages had also reached the consecration festival of the idol of Lord Ganapati in Brahmanwada. Some people were standing with gas balloons, while nearby some people were celebrating by bursting fireworks. Meanwhile, the fire from the firecrackers reached the balloons and when all the balloons burst simultaneously, there was a huge explosion and a stampede.
Five seriously injured people were given first aid on the spot. Some injured have been admitted to the local hospital and government primary health centre. The seriously injured have been referred to Civil Hospital, Unjha for further treatment. Meanwhile, about 20 patients have been admitted to Lions Hospital in Unjha.
