Bengaluru News: 3 people injured due to storm in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: At least three people were injured as storms lashed Bengaluru, causing trees to fall, power outages, waterlogging, vehicle breakdowns and disruption of metro train services. Traffic jams were also reported from all major arterial roads. “One person was reported injured from RR Nagar and two from Jayanagar,” a BBMP official said. “The injured were in the car when the trees fell. The injuries are minor and efforts are on to clear the fallen trees.” Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) M N Anucheth said waterlogging was reported from 58 locations and trees fell from 39 locations. “(Traffic) congestion is very high. Civic agencies are working to clear the roads,” he said.
Namma Metro suspended train services between MG Road and Indiranagar after tree branches fell on the tracks between MG Road and Trinity Circle stations at 7.26 pm. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said in a statement that only short-loop train services are being operated between Indiranagar and Whitefield and between Challaghatta and MG Road. The Bengaluru Traffic Police has urged vehicle users to take alternate routes and be prepared for delays. They said efforts are being made to clear fallen trees and waterlogged areas as soon as possible.
