Bhubaneswar Olympian Amit sets an example by adopting solar energy

Bhubaneswar: Indian hockey player and Olympian Amit Rohidas has adopted solar energy by installing a rooftop solar system at his home under the PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme. This initiative has significantly reduced installation costs and resulted in long-term savings on electricity bills. His move reflects the growing trust among consumers in adopting clean and sustainable energy solutions under the Government of India’s flagship solar program. Sharing his experience, Amit Rohidas said: “When we play on the field, every second counts. Similarly, every unit of electricity is crucial for our homes.
Through the PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme, I have adopted solar energy and received a subsidy of ₹1.38 lakh. I am very grateful to the government for such a scheme.” He added, “I also thank TPCODL for helping me install solar at my home. With solar, my electricity bill worries are gone—I no longer have to pay. Just as discipline is essential for sports, solar is essential for the future. This is a smart decision. Focus on your dreams… let the sun power your home. I installed solar panels on my roof; you can do the same and reduce your electricity bill.” Amit’s move will inspire thousands of homes across Odisha to transition to clean energy and take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme, which offers attractive subsidies for rooftop solar installations while contributing to environmental sustainability. Commenting on this initiative, Arvind Singh, CEO of TPCODL, said, “We are pleased to see prominent players like Amit Rohidas adopting rooftop solar and promoting sustainable energy solutions. Such initiatives inspire communities to adopt green options for a better future. TPCODL is committed to supporting consumers every step of the way under the PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme.”
