BIE seeks exemption from poll duty for government college staff

Hyderabad: The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has requested the State Election Commission (SEC) to exempt staff from government and public-sector junior college duties for the upcoming local body elections.
In a letter to State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini, TGBIE Secretary S. Krishna Aditya informed the commission that 21,844 staff members from government and public-sector junior colleges, including 19,241 teaching and 2,603 non-teaching staff, were deployed to conduct practical and theory exams. Krishna Aditya stated that English practical exams for first- and second-year intermediate students are scheduled for January 21 and 22, followed by an Ethics and Human Values exam on January 23 and an Environmental Education exam on January 24. He also stated that practical exams will be held from February 2 to 21, and theory exams from February 25 to March 18.
The TGBIE Secretary said, “During this period, coordination, vigilance, and supervision at various stations and the services of teaching and non-teaching staff are of paramount importance during the already scheduled examination schedule.
In view of this, they requested for no duty assignments and exemption from duty. Relevant for the upcoming elections – Municipal Corporation/Municipality, Urban Local Body and Rural Local Body Elections (MPTC and ZPTC).
