Bihar: Patna-Nepal drug needle smuggling racket busted
Patna: A large network of smuggling of banned drugs and injections has been revealed operating from Bihar’s capital Patna to Nepal. Police investigation has revealed that smugglers associated with Nepal were taking a consignment of banned drug injections from Patna and sending it across the border. After the arrest of four smugglers by Sadar police station last month, many important aspects of this illegal business have been revealed. The police is now investigating the entire network and trying to find out who else is involved in this business.
According to the information, last month a regular vehicle checking campaign was being conducted near Madhubani Madapur Choubey located in New Four Lane in Sadar Police Station area. Meanwhile, the police stopped a four-wheeler and searched it. During the search, a large quantity of banned intoxicant (injection) was recovered from the vehicle. After this, four people traveling in the vehicle were arrested from the spot.
During preliminary interrogation, the police came to know that all the arrested accused were going to Nepal with a consignment of intoxicating needles from Patna. The accused have given many important information during interrogation, on the basis of which the police is busy connecting the links of this entire network. Officials believe that this is not a small case, but could be part of a smuggling gang operating at the interstate and international level.
According to police officials, the recovered injections are of banned category and are used illegally for intoxication. Such injections are considered extremely dangerous for the health of the youth. Their misuse can cause serious physical and mental problems. This is the reason why their illegal business is constantly monitored.
Investigation has also revealed that smugglers used to transport banned injections from one place to another using four-wheelers so as to avoid the attention of the police. Police are now trying to find out from where this consignment was brought to Patna and to whom it was to be delivered in Nepal.
Officials say that the mobile phones, call details and other electronic evidence of the arrested accused are being examined. Along with this, financial transactions and contact sources are also being investigated so that the entire gang can be exposed. The investigating agencies are also finding out whether this network is connected to other states or international smuggling gangs.
According to police sources, the Bihar-Nepal border has long been considered sensitive for smuggling. Smugglers often try to smuggle illegal goods by taking advantage of the movement of people and geographical conditions on both sides of the border. For this reason, security agencies are continuously increasing surveillance and keeping an eye on suspicious activities.
In this matter, the police have registered a case under the relevant laws. Interrogation of the arrested accused is going on and based on the information given by them, raids are being conducted at possible locations. Officials say that if the involvement of other people associated with this network comes to light, strict action will be taken against them also.
Health experts say that illegal trade of banned drugs and injections is a serious threat to the society. Abuse of such substances promotes drug addiction and adversely affects the health of the youth. Therefore, effective control and strict action against this type of trafficking is extremely necessary.
The police have also appealed to the common people that if they get any information about illegal sale or smuggling of banned drugs or intoxicating injections in their vicinity, then immediately inform the police. Officials assured that the identity of those giving information will be kept confidential.
At present, Sadar police station and other investigating agencies are investigating the entire matter in depth. Officials say that all the people associated with this smuggling network will be identified and legal action will be taken against them. Also, the scope of investigation is being continuously expanded to expose the entire chain of this illegal business operating from Bihar to Nepal.
