Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lauded the Union Budget for its focus on youth, backward classes, women and the middle class as well as the manufacturing and infrastructure sectors and said the proposed employment-linked incentive schemes will create crores of new jobs. “This visionary Budget will uplift and empower every section of our society, paving the way for a brighter future for all,” Modi said in a televised commentary on the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Home Minister Amit Shah Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said Budget 2024-25 will put the country on the path to emerging as a developed nation by ushering in a new era of employment and opportunities. Shah said the Budget not only exemplifies the new sense of purpose, hope and optimism of the country under the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi but also reinforces them. “Harnessing the power of India’s youth, Nari Shakti and farmers, the Budget puts the country on the path to emerging as a developed nation by ushering in a new era of employment and opportunities,” he wrote on ‘X’ with the hashtag #BudgetForViksitBharat.
Opposition reactions
Leaders from opposition-ruled states like West Bengal, Telangana and Punjab expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of allocations. Meanwhile, the Congress claimed that the budget, especially the youth-focused part, was copied from its manifesto for the recent Lok Sabha elections.
