BJP government’s schemes related to social welfare, not rewari: Prahlad Patel
Bhopal: On various schemes of Central and Madhya Pradesh government being termed as ‘Rewari’, Union Minister of State Prahlad Patel has said that these are not ‘Rewari’ but social welfare schemes.
While discussing with the reporters, Patel said that whether it is the Ladli Lakshmi, Ladli Brahmin Yojana of the BJP government of Madhya Pradesh or the Ujjwala Yojana of the Central Government, construction of toilets or Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, through these the government has fulfilled the resolve of women empowerment. He further said, I can say with certainty that all the schemes of the double engine government of BJP have social impact. All the schemes are for the welfare of the people, not handout schemes. BJP is ready to conduct impact assessment or third party assessment of these government schemes.
Patel said, the standard of living of the common people has improved due to the poor welfare schemes of the BJP government. Health has improved due to cleanliness and hygiene due to construction of toilets. With domestic gas connections and subsidy through Ujjwala scheme, women have got relief from smoke and their health has improved.
On the interference made by the Supreme Court regarding the announcements being made during the elections, Union Minister Patel said that there should be a discussion on the way misuse of government money is discussed in electoral politics. If the judiciary starts this dialogue then the pace of India’s economy and its progress will improve in the times to come.
Union Minister Patel said that Congress, which has been harassing the OBC community, is today singing the praises of OBCs. BJP has been in government for less time than the number of years that Congress ruled the country, yet Congress could never do as much work as our party did for the OBC community. Congress has not given a single OBC Chief Minister to Madhya Pradesh, while BJP has scored a hat-trick by making Uma Bharti, Babulal Gaur and Shivraj Singh Chouhan as Chief Ministers from the OBC category.(IANS)
