Mufti highlighted the current challenges facing Kashmir and pointed to severe energy cuts during the winter of 2023, the worst in more than two decades. Despite the installation of intelligent meters, it persisted that most households in Cashemira received electricity only a few hours a day, and even hospitals were affected. Mufti accused the government of inadequate allocation of power and highlighted historical imbalances in power distribution agreements.
The bulletin also addressed the imminent threat to Cashemira’s ecology and economy while private companies take over the area’s lithium mines. Mufti warned about the potential damage to the environment and displacement of local populations if mining contracts were decided by unnamed individuals.
