BJP leader’s nephew’s sister-in-law commits suicide, deceased’s in-laws abscond
Durg. A newly married woman resident of Jawahar Nagar in the district committed suicide by hanging herself after 11 months of marriage. On getting information about the incident, her maternal family, who reached Durg from Odisha, not only accused her in-laws of assaulting her for dowry, but also expressed fear of murder. As soon as the news of the incident was received, Mohan Nagar police started investigating the matter. The deceased is said to be the sister-in-law of the nephew of BJP state president Kiran Dev Singh.
Police said that Arpita (33), daughter of RK Singh, resident of Nuapada Odisha, was married to Saurabh Rajput, resident of Jawahar Nagar Durg, 11 months ago. On Thursday night, his body was found hanging in his room. His in-laws freed him from the noose and took him to the district hospital. Where he was declared dead. When the police got information about this, they also informed the parents of the deceased. The family members of the deceased have also reached the fort. As soon as they reached, the deceased’s husband and her in-laws had fled.
