Bollywood comedy ‘Coolie No. 1’ completes 28 years

Mumbai (IANS). Govinda and Karisma Kapoor’s iconic comedy-romance film ‘Coolie No. 1’ completed 28 glorious years on Friday. The pairing of Raju Kuli and Malti Chowdhary became one of the most loved jodis of the country with their excellent comic timing and screen presence.

Upon release, the film became popular with the audience due to its songs, cast and story.

Producer Vashu Bhagnani said, “’Coolie No. 1′ will always be my most special film as I started my film journey with it. It marked the beginning of our production house and collaboration with the trio of David G, Govinda and Karisma. Did.”

“We have made some unforgettable films together and I cherish those happy memories. David ji has been my elder brother and my confidant throughout my film career and even today – ‘Coolie No. 1’ is one of our all time favorite films. I feel very emotional remembering the memories of the sets and the wonderful time spent with the cast and crew.

Coolie No. 1 was well received with stellar performances by Kader Khan and Shakti Kapoor. Its ‘Husn Hai Suhana’ song was very popular, this dance number is still popular even after almost three decades of its release.

With several iconic songs like ‘Main To Raste Se Ja Raha Tha’ and the romantic number ‘Aa Jaana’ which showcased Chichi and Lolo’s sizzling chemistry and dancing skills, ‘Coolie No. 1’ continues to entertain people even today.

Coolie No. 1, produced by Vashu Bhagnani and directed by David Dhawan, was released on 30 June 1995.
