British Foreign Minister David Lammy arrives in India
New Delhi: British Foreign Minister David Lammy arrived in New Delhi on his first official visit on Wednesday. His visit is considered important in view of further discussions related to the strategic partnership between India and Britain. Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, wrote on Twitter, “His visit will strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Britain. Along with this, the relations between the two countries will also be strengthened.
The focus of Foreign Minister David Lammy’s visit to New Delhi will be on strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and talks to complete the mutually beneficial India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) soon. David Lammy will meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday evening. Apart from meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he is likely to hold talks with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and NSA Ajit Doval.
Let us tell you that this will be the first high-level talks between the two sides after the Labor government of Prime Minister Keir Starmer came to power in Britain. The British PM spoke to Foreign Minister Jaishankar after taking office earlier this month. He appreciated the deep ties and unique friendship between the people, business and culture of India and Britain.
