BRO opens Zojila Pass for vehicular traffic
The Zojila Pass was today reopened for vehicular traffic once again after the recent snowfall.
The Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) expressed gratitude to the Union Territory Administration, Ladakh Police, Project Vijayak and Beacon officers, as well as the District Administration for their coordinated efforts.
CEC applauded the dedication of Border Roads Organization (BRO) workers who tirelessly operated in harsh climatic conditions to pave the way for the reopening of this strategic pass. Despite the challenges, 10 vehicles from Kargil-Sonamarg and 27 vehicles from Srinagar-Kargil routes have already crossed the Zojila axis, with 160 passengers successfully making the journey.
The District Administration of Kargil also contributed by sending 10 vehicles to Srinagar to pick up passengers, including students.
This reopening marks a crucial step in ensuring the smooth movement of traffic through this vital passageway, benefiting both residents and travellers in the region.
