BSF, Punjab Police seize 1.710 kg heroin
Chandigarh (IANS). In an intelligence-based operation, BSF along with Punjab Police on Friday recovered 1.710 kg of heroin based on inputs shared by Jalandhar Rural Police.
Punjab Police, in a post on X, said so far 24.710 kg of heroin has been recovered from the possession of Malkit Singh Kali and his associates.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) police station in Fazilka.
Earlier this month, Punjab Police had arrested Kali, who had sent three people to pick up a consignment of 50 kg of heroin from Pakistan. Kali’s arrest comes less than a month after Jalandhar Rural Police arrested drug smuggler Joga Singh, who had crossed into Pakistan’s jurisdiction to receive a heroin consignment and eight kilograms of heroin.
DGP Gaurav Yadav had said that after connecting the forward and backward links in this case, Jalandhar Rural Police arrested Kali, a resident of Tendi Wala village in Firozpur, and recovered heroin kept in his bag.
SSP Jalandhar (Rural) Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar said Kali revealed that he was in regular touch with Pakistan-based drug smuggler Haider Ali, who had helped him smuggle heroin consignments into India on behalf of a hawala operator.
