Bullet fired in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, two injured
New Delhi (IANS). Two people, including a passerby, were injured when a man opened fire in southeast Delhi’s Nizamuddin area. The police gave this information on Thursday.
The injured have been identified as Mohammad Kamal (35), a resident of Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Raju (45), a resident of Alvi Chowk in Nizamuddin area. Both are out of danger now.
A senior police officer said that around 11.00 pm on Wednesday night, the police control room received a call that a person had fired three shots at another person near Kit Care restaurant.
The officer said, “A police team immediately reached the spot, where they found that the injured had already been taken to the hospital. The investigating officer collected the MLCs of Kamal from AIIMS Trauma Center and Raju from Safdarjung Hospital. Both had bullet injuries.
The statement of an eyewitness was recorded, who told that on Wednesday he was going towards Alvi Chowk with his friend Alam. When they reached near the Kit Care restaurant, a man dressed in black came from behind and suddenly fired three-four rounds, targeting Kamal. After this he fled from the spot.
“A passer-by was also injured in the firing. Meanwhile, the eyewitness heard some people shouting that some Kabir had fired at Kamal. The eyewitness hired an auto-rickshaw and took the two injured to the hospital,” the officer said.
“A case of attempt to murder has been registered under 25/27 Arms Act. Investigation is on to ascertain the motive behind the crime and nab the culprit,” the officer said.
