Cable thieves caught with matador and pickup, stole in plant
Korba: Urga police has arrested 6 people of a gang involved in cable wire theft. Aluminum wire weighing more than 4 quintals, worth Rs 5 lakh, has been seized from them. Apart from this, Matador, pickup vehicle, gas cylinder, 2 oxygen cylinders, 2 swords etc. used for theft have also been seized.
According to the information received from the police, towers have been installed at Lanco Amarkantak Power Plant Patadhi for power supply. The work of drawing aluminum wire in it had stopped for a few months. The police received information from Dushyant Tiwari, the assistant general manager of the plant, that 10 kilometers of the aluminum power supply wire installed in the said tower had been stolen within the last few days. Urga police registered the crime and started investigation. On September 2, during checking near Bhalpahari Mod, the police caught 6 accused including aluminum wire filled in a Tata 407 and 01 pickup vehicle. The main accused Abdul Farooq told during interrogation that he planned the heist along with his accomplices Mustakim Khan, Golu Prajapati alias Golu DJ and Gulli. For this, Rakesh Chauhan and Ramesh Chauhan were paid Rs 2,000 to 4,000 according to the work.
Farooq made arrangements for gas cutter, cylinder etc. from Korba. On the night of 31st August everyone had a party of Daru Murga. They also arranged for a sword and decided that if someone stops them, comes here or informs the police, they will kill them. After stealing the wire, they hid the goods along with the cart in the forest of Kanki and covered the top with a tarpaulin. On September 3 morning, a police team nabbed him while transporting stolen wire towards Korba. Police has arrested 6 accused. These include Abdul Farooq, Mo, Mustakim, Rakesh Chauhan, Ramesh Kumar Oraon, Santlal Patel and Gulshan Dhari. Three accused Golu Prajapati, Gulli and pickup driver Chhotu Mahant are absconding. An offense has been registered against all under IPC section 379 and Arms Act 25, 27.
