Case filed for assault on Imam, also accused of saying casteist words
Hanumangarh. The Imam of the mosque, a resident of Hanumangarh Rodanwali, has accused some people of assaulting him and his son-in-law, using casteist words and hurting religious sentiments by hurling the cap he was wearing on his head. In this regard, a case has been registered on behalf of the Imam at the Junction Police Station on Monday. The imam of the mosque Mohammad Ramzan s/o Khushi Mohammad resident of Ward 14, village Rodanwali told that his pregnant daughter was admitted in the government district hospital of the town. His son-in-law Imdad Khan’s son Umaid Khan’s resident Lakhuwali from Sriganganagar reached the junction bus stand at around 5 pm on July 14 by bus. He had to go to the Government District Hospital. Four girls stole 3000 rupees from her son-in-law’s pocket at the bus stand. When his son-in-law came to know about it at the same time, he caught two of them on the spot, while two girls ran away. His son-in-law called the Junction police station and informed, then he reached the bus stand. Praveen’s son Palaram resident Jandawali, Arshdeep Dhillon, JP Banna, Gautam Mund resident Dholipal, Kiran resident Ward 54 Suresia and four-five others surrounded him and his son-in-law Imdad Khan when he started inquiring about the money from both the girls. Took it and started creating ruckus. He was hurled casteist abuses. After this both started fighting. Grabbed his beard and made him fall down. Tossed the cap worn on the head in the air and threw it down and started making videos. Hurt the religious sentiments of him and his son-in-law. They all kept humiliating him for about an hour. Because of this he could not reach the hospital and his daughter’s child died. Mohammad Ramzan alleged that these people assaulted and humiliated him and his son-in-law. Insulted by making a video abusing caste and hurt religious sentiments by making the video viral on social media. Station in-charge Naresh Gera said that further action is being taken after registering the case.
