Center called all-party meeting on December 2
New Delhi: The government has called an all-party meeting on December 2 ahead of the winter session of Parliament starting on December 4. The winter session 2023 of Parliament will end on December 22.
On behalf of the government, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi has called an all-party meeting on December 2. Usually the all-party meeting is called a day before the start of the session, this time it has been postponed by a day due to the counting of votes for the five states where voting is going on on December 3.
The winter session will be held a day after the results of assembly elections in five states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana – are declared.
The election results are expected to be echoed in the session. Three important bills to amend the IPC, CrPC and the Evidence Act are likely to be considered during the session.
The session is also likely to discuss the Ethics Committee report on “cash for query” allegations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra. The committee has recommended his expulsion.
While the government will try to push its legislative agenda, opposition parties may press for a discussion on issues of concern to them.
