Center is weakening the federal structure, Mamata Banerjee said in Delhi
New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Center of “weakening the federal structure” and alleged that when the opposition raises questions, they are either expelled or raided.
The Chief Minister of West Bengal said, “They are destroying the federal structure. They are snatching everything from poor people. The poor people are hungry and they are very angry.”
He further asked how many BJP members were raided.
“When we raise the issue, everyone is suspended, expelled or subjected to Income Tax raids, CBI raids or ED raids,” he said. You show me how many BJP members were raided. ‘Thief, dacoit’.”
Besides, Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee is under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the school job scam.
The Trinamool leader has been summoned several times by the agency in connection with both ED and CBI cases.
The ED had earlier summoned the Diamond Harbor MP to appear before it on October 9 when he was scheduled to attend a Trinamool Congress protest rally in the national capital on October 3 demanding the immediate release of central funds due to the state. Did not attend the summons.
The school job scam, in which appointments were made illegally in state-run schools for monetary gains, has rocked the politics of West Bengal since July 2023.
Several Trinamool Congress leaders, including former education minister Partha Chatterjee, are behind bars for their alleged involvement in the scam.
