Central government took a big decision against female IAS officer, forced to retire
New Delhi: The IAS couple who came into limelight last year for taking their dog for a walk in Delhi’s Thyagaraj Stadium has got a shock. The Central Government has given compulsory retirement to IAS officer Rinku Dugga. The government has taken this decision on the basis of the track record of Rinku Dugga’s career. She is a 1994 batch AGMUT cadre officer, currently posted in Arunachal Pradesh.
Rinku’s husband Sanjeev Khirwar is also a 1994 batch IAS officer, who is currently posted in Ladakh. Last year, there was a stir after the news of an IAS couple walking a dog in the stadium came to light and then action was taken, the husband was transferred to Ladakh and the wife to Arunachal Pradesh. Now, taking action against Rinku Dugga, he has been ordered to retire compulsorily.
According to ‘Indian Express’, a government official said, “In view of the track record of Rinku Dugga, an order for compulsory retirement has been issued.” 56(J), was retired under Rule 48 of the Central Civil Services (CCS) Pension Rules, 1972. The government has the right to retire any government employee in public interest.
In the report that came out in the month of May last year, it was said that the athletes were being forced to complete training before the scheduled time at the Tyagaraja Stadium run by the Delhi government. The then Delhi Principal Secretary (Revenue) Sanjeev Khirwar and his IAS wife were held responsible for this, because they also took the dog with them for a walk in the stadium, due to which the stadium was evacuated.
After the report came out, the Home Ministry had sought a report from the Chief Secretary of Delhi. After this, when the Chief Secretary submitted a report to the Home Ministry on the factual situation, then both of them were transferred to the Ministry. On the other hand, soon after the controversy escalated, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had ordered to make all the sports facilities run by the Delhi government, including Tyagraj Stadium, available for the use of players by 10 pm.
