CG NEWS: Ash-laden water enters 40 acres of land, crops destroyed due to NTPC’s negligence

Korba news. Due to the breaking of one bank of the Rakhad Dam of Jamnipali NTPC located at Dhanras in the midst of rain, lakhs of gallons of ash-laden water spilled into the surrounding fields. The crop sown in about 40 acres of the farmers has been destroyed by this. After the incident, the angry farmers staged a sit-in against NTPC, which was ended on the assurance of compensation.

Chhattisgarh It is known that the Rakhad Dam located at Dhanras is completely filled. Now by increasing its height, ash is being poured through the pipeline. Even before this, the nearby residents are troubled due to the dust flying. The crop in the fields is also getting destroyed by dust. The dam could not bear the pressure in the recent rain and a part of it burst on Saturday night.

Due to this, lakhs of gallons of ash-laden water filled about 40 acres of field. The farmers staged a sit-in expressing their displeasure against NTPC. They were demanding compensation and action against the NTPC management. On behalf of the administration, Naib Tehsildar Janaki Katle reached and ended the sit-in. He has talked about getting compensation for the farmers from NTPC and taking action against SECL management if negligence is found.
