Chandigarh: Two fire department officials sent to judicial custody

Chandigarh: A CBI court has sent Manimajra station’s Fire Officer Dasharu Singh and Leading Fireman Kamleshwar to judicial custody. Two employees of the municipal corporation’s fire department were arrested on Thursday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 for issuing a fire no objection certificate (NOC). According to the CBI, the agency had received a complaint that the accused officials were demanding bribe to expedite the issuance of NOC, which is required under fire safety rules. The applicant, who was not willing to pay the bribe, filed a complaint with the CBI. After a preliminary investigation, the CBI laid a trap and arrested the accused.
