Chandigarh: Young man stabbed to death in Maulijagran
Chandigarh: An unidentified assailant stabbed a 26-year-old man to death and injured another in Mauli Jagran last night. The deceased has been identified as Montu, a labourer. He was stabbed once in the chest, police said. The injured Vedpal (21) was found with stab wounds in his stomach. The two victims were found at a distance from each other near the community centre in Vikas Nagar.
Local residents saw the victims lying in a pool of blood and informed the police. Police rushed to the spot and began investigation. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) also inspected the spot and collected evidence. Both the victims were rushed to a hospital, where Montu was declared dead. “The two victims, residents of Mauli Jagran, did not know each other,” a police source said. The assailant is yet to be identified, police said. The motive for the crime is yet to be ascertained. The police officer said that the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area is being examined. A case of murder has been registered at Maulijagran police station.
